Wizard of Odd
This is an actual synopsis of a TV movie, as it appeared in a newspaper's listings:
If you can't see that, it reads:
The Wizard of Oz. (8-10 p.m., TCM) — Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.
Yes, it's real: it was written by Rick Polito in 1998 for the Marin (County, Calif.) Independent Journal while he was a TV columnist there (he left the paper in 2007).
"That line is going to follow me to the grave," Polito told a journalism forum this morning. "It was just on Leno, it was a clue in a crossword puzzle, it showed up in Playboy, and people use it as their email sigs. Someday I'm going to walk down the street and see it on a T-shirt and punch the person who's wearing it."
