Dave's New Cell Phone

A buddy of mine thought his pay-as-you-go cell phone was a good deal until he didn't have a home phone anymore, and his bill went through the roof. So he switched to a new monthly plan from a new company, and was pretty happy that he got to keep his same number, and they threw in a new free phone to boot.

Once he got it, he pulled out what little hair he had left, sending me this note:

I've spent much of the past two hours today, and many idle moments last night, coming to terms with my new Samsung t619 Quad-Band Phone with 1.3 megapixel camera/camcorder; MP3 player; Bluetooth; ABC, T9, Number, and Symbol text input modes; something called a "FDN List"; and even "Potentially Explosive Environments" (p. 187). All I wanna know is how to turn up the call volume.

That's on page 24, it turns out. I had to download and search the 3.1 MB PDF version of the 212-page user manual because the hard copy's typeface is about 8 points.

I could hardly resist my reply:

"Can you hear me now?"
